Equipping communities with proven programs and supports
About the Study
Spouses are foundational members of our military and veteran communities. However, in current research and programming, the health and wellness of military and veteran spouses are not widely understood or addressed. We are taking steps to change that. The purpose of this study is to better understand military and veteran spouses’ wellness across eight dimensions, and to identify where supports can be developed and provided to address these areas of need. We hope to use this information to improve future research and programming, to ensure spouses receive the support they deserve.
This survey is a research study conducted by the Institute for Military and Veteran Family Wellness and InDependent.

Why are we focusing on spouses?
Military and veteran spouses possess strengths and face challenges that are unique to the military lifestyle. Spouses often play a pivotal role in the well-being of their family, from daily routines to frequent transitions and finding essential resources. While many programs primarily focus on the service member, veteran, or family as a whole, we believe that spouses deserve dedicated support and programs tailored to their individual needs and aspirations.
To ensure that these programs are effective, we need a deeper understanding of the experiences of military and veteran spouses. This survey aims to gather valuable insights into spouses’ health, wellness, and overall quality of life. By participating in this survey, spouses can help shape policies and programs that promote their well-being and create a more supportive environment.
